This was another unique sport I witnessed at the Busan Asian Games. This one is from India and is truly a unique one. Its like tag plus redrover plus an endurance competion plus human dodge ball.
Its a little difficult to explain but you have a three part court. Each team has a quarter of the court as their zone and the middle is neutral ground. One team sends a player into the other teams zone. His job is to tag as many opposing players while saying "kabadi kabadi kabadi..." and get back cross the middle line. If he makes it back any tagged players are off the court. If the other team can capture him in their zone he mus leave the court. I think that if he tags players and makes it to neutral ground but not across the middle line he and the tagged players must leave.
Anyway, it was very interesting and I enjoyed watching it quite a bit. We saw two matches, India vs. Bangledash and Pakistan vs. Sri Lanka. I don't know if any of you will ever have a chance to see it but if you do don't miss it! *** Anyone who has found this site while searching for information or pictures of Kabaddi - please enjoy and please, look around the rest of the site too.
