These are a few photos of Sepak Takraw. Unfortunately this was one of those times I'd forgotten to charge the camera and the battery died on me quickly. This was a really interesting and wild sport to watch. Its from Thailand and is basically where 'hackey sack' comes from.
There are to main versions - "Circle Game" which is hackey sack really. The team stands around together and gets points for keeping the ball in the air without using hands. I can't remeber the exact numbers but I think the most points any one manouver could garner was 3 and the gold medal team had something like 1200 points, maybe more.
These pictures come from the other version of the game which is best discribed as Hackey Sack meets Volleyball. Each team has three people on court at one time. Very similar to Volleyball otherwise except of course - no hands or arms may be used to volley or otherwise touch the ball except to launch the ball in the air for a teammate to serve. Serving and the 'spikes' at the net were both very impressive to see. An amazing game to watch.
This is the begining of a serve. The player at the post lobs the ball up for the player in the centre of their half to serve it with big overhead roundhouse kick thing. Pretty cool
